A Short Curriculum Vitae
I am George Joseph (Josh) Alesserill, born in the village of Arthunkal in the State of Kerala, India, on January 18th, 1981. I am the second of two children of George Joseph and Julet Alesserill. I completed basic schooling at St. Francis of Assisi Secondary High School at Arthunkal in 1996. After that, I entered the Minor Seminary of the diocese of Cochin on June 18th, 1996. I, then, continued my studies at university and graduated in Commerce (B.A.) at the Mahatma Gandhi University of Kerala in 2002. Later, I graduated in Philosophy (B.A.) at the Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth (Pontifical Institute of Philosophy and Religion) in Puna, Kerala (2004). From 2004 to 2005 I held the regency as a Brother Prefect in charge in the Holy Cross Study House of the Minor Seminary in the diocese of Cochin. In 2005 I was sent to the Collegio Urbano of the Propaganda Fide, Rome, for theological studies; supposed to be graduated in Theology (B.A.), in June 2008.
About Seminary Life
The Collegio Urbano is a unique Pontifical Seminary under the Congregation of Propaganda Fide. It was founded on August 1st, 1627, by Pope Urban VIII., for the propagation of faith and of the Catholic church doctrines. In the academic year of 2007/08, we are 120 students from 32 countries. Here, close to the Holy Father, the successor of St. Peter, we get formed to become priests of Christ, preaching the evangel of Christ and defending the Catholic doctrines. For this, we have a particular curriculum, and practices of formation under a certain motto. This year’s motto runs: “Word of God, Eucharist and Community – to know and to live Christ”. Here, at Urbana University, everyone does his studies to find the heart of faith through the search for truth by the study of Philosophy and Catholic Religion, just as by their research.

Kurzer Lebenslauf
Mein Name ist George Joseph (Josh) Alesserill; geboren wurde ich am 18. Januar 1981 in dem Dorf Arthunkal im indischen Bundesstaat Kerala. Ich bin das jüngere von zwei Kindern von George Joseph und Julet Alesserill.
Meine schulische Grundausbildung schloß ich 1996 an der Franz-von-Assisi-Mittelschule in Arthunkal ab. Danach trat ich am 18. Juni 1996 ins Kleine Seminar des Bistums Cochin ein. Ich setzte dann mein Studium fort an der Universität und schloß ab mit dem Bachelor in Handelswissenschaft der Mahatma-Gandhi-Universität von Kerala (2002). Später erlangte ich den Bachelor in Philosophie am Päpstlichen Institut für Philosophie und Religion in Puna, Kerala (2004). 2004/05 hatte ich als verantwortlicher Bruderpräfekt die Leitung inne am Heilig-Kreuz-Studienhaus des Kleinen Seminars des Bistums Cochin. 2005 wurde ich an das Collegio Urbano der Propaganda Fide in Rom zum Theologiestudium geschickt; im Juni 2008 werde ich dort das Baccalaureat erwerben.
Über das Seminarleben
Das Collegio Urbano ist ein einzigartiges Päpstliches Seminar unter Leitung der Kongregation der Propaganda Fide. Es wurde am 1. August 1627 gegründet von Papst Urban VIII. zur Verbreitung des Glaubens und der katholischen Kirchenlehre. Im akademischen Jahr 2007/08 sind wir hier 120 Studenten aus 32 Ländern. Hier, nahe dem Heiligen Vater, Nachfolger des Hl. Petrus, werden wir ausgebildet, um Priester Christi zu werden, die die Frohe Botschaft verkünden und die die katholische Lehre verteidigen. Dazu haben wir einen besonderen Lehrplan und Ausbildungs-Übungen unter einem bestimmten Leitwort. Das diesjährige Motto lautet: „Wort Gottes, Eucharistie und Gemeinde – Christus kennen und leben“. Hier an der Urbana studieren alle, um den Glaubensgrund zu erfahren durch die Suche nach Wahrheit im Studium der Philosophie und der Katholischen Theologie, wie auch in der Forschung.
